"Feral Woman"
Oil on Canvas - 2025 - 36"x48"
Feral Woman was born of the primal anger that dwells within women who have been silenced, subdued, and traumatized. She was intentionally created on a large canvas to further push the challenge of looking at her, reflecting our societal struggle to acknowledge the chaotic and shadowy rage that women experience. This wild feminine is a hungry, cold, vengeful entity that has been exiled. By ignoring our inner shadow, we allow her to control us. She lashes out with merciless vitriol and furthers the suffering created by trauma which created her. She is not to be glamorized, but acknowledged, accepted, and transmuted through empowerment and healing. Inspiration for her imagery is rooted in ancient lore, including entities such as Baba Yaga, Kali, and Lilith.

Statement
My art materializes the nuances of the human experience and reveals their reflection in the natural world. I aim to honor what lies beyond the normalcies of the mundane by bringing them forward with robust and dramatic imagery. Exploratory in nature, my work ranges from subjects of self-realization to feminine rage to stifled multifaceted expression.
This inspiration is rooted in my journey from fighting crippling mental health symptoms to finding a sense of personal empowerment through questioning modern approaches to our bodies' messages. Centering my life around ruthless honesty and a strengthened sense of self-compassion, I find myself undergoing consistent cycles of deep transformation. Through these cycles, I embody each phase with strong emotional awareness and attunement to my inner compass. My art works through these themes by bringing imagery to my felt experience, often providing clarity and insight through its manifestation into the physical.
Each piece utilizes colors and environments with intention to strengthen the emotional delivery of the concept. Much of my art incorporates elements of plants, animals, insects, and fungi found in the mountains of Appalachia where I live.
